The Rock County Board of Supervisors has voted to oppose a proposed 765-kilovolt high-voltage transmission line that would cut through the county.
The board approved Resolution R-2026-139, sponsored by Supervisor Ron Woodman, joining other local governments across Wisconsin that have pushed back against the project. The proposed transmission line would stretch about 190 miles from Crawford County to Walworth County, passing through Rock County along the way.
The resolution raises concerns about how the project could affect communities, private property owners and agricultural land. It specifically calls out the proposed Guyed-Y tower design, which uses tensioned cables anchored to the ground for support.
According to the resolution, that design could create more obstacles in farm fields by adding ground anchors and tension wires. Farmers would have to navigate around those structures, increasing the risk of collisions.
