Climate Change Legislation

Attorneys are completing work on Wisconsin’s version of global warming legislation. The best way to limit increased cost to consumers, risk to investors and unintended consequences from the far-reaching legislation is to allow the committees with expertise in energy and utility issues the opportunity to ensure the utility related provisions are workable. Legislative leaders have charged one committee in each house to learn about utility issues and deal with all legislation related to utilities. Leaders deserve credit for establishing committees that can focus on specific issues. Now these leaders must use the system they developed to limit the cost and risk of global warming legislation.
